| Psychotropic Medication Review
Training Sites
Residents with psychiatric conditions,
cognitive impairments, or dementia may have difficulty coping or understanding
and interpreting the various daily activities that occur within the nursing
home setting. Medications may be an important part of the treatment plan to
assist the resident to maintain functional abilities and preserve quality of
life. However, federal regulations provide specific guidelines when
psychotropic medications are a part of the treatment plan. To assist facilities
to strengthen their process for evaluating the use of psychotropic medications,
PARRI has forged partnerships with three facilities within the Commonwealth
that have developed solid psychotropic medication review procedures that are
consistently applied and have promoted positive care outcomes. These three
facilities offer free training sessions to any facility seeking assistance with
the psychotropic medication review process. The training sites are:
-
Mountain View Care Center, Scranton, PA
-
St. Anne's Home, Inc., Columbia, PA
-
St. Paul Homes, Greenville, PA
In addition
to offering training sessions, the training sites are a valuable resource to
nursing, social service, restorative and activity staff members for questions
regarding a psychotropic medication review process. To schedule a training
session for psychotropic medication review at any of these sites, please
